ITMO University is represented in six subject rankings, taking third place in the categories Information Technologies, Biotechnologies and Bioengineering, Machine Engineering and Robotics; fifth – in Physics and Chemical Technologies; and eighth – in Math.
All 29 subject rankings published by RAEX, one of the largest ranking agencies in Russia, became part of the Three University Missions ranking system. Previously, it included regional, as well as national and international rankings. To compile the subject rankings, the experts analyzed statistical data provided by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Clarivate Analytics, Scopus, organizers of the I am a Professional contest, as well as systems for media outlet analysis, SCAN-Interfax, online learning platforms, web analytics tool Alexa, and social media.
A total of 136 universities from 41 Russian regions were included in the list. Most of them are based in Moscow and St. Petersburg – 40 and 17, respectively. Other than ITMO, among the leaders of all subject rankings are Lomonosov Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, Higher School of Economics, Ural Federal University, Tomsk Polytechnic University, St. Petersburg Mining University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and Kazan Federal University. Their positions in the subject rankings were determined by three groups of factors related to the quality of education, scientific achievements, and the level of public relations.
