The ranking takes into account the percentage of graduates who find employment within two years after graduation and their median salary; combined, these criteria define the spot of a given university on the list. The fields of study included not only mathematics but also mechanics, computer and information sciences, physics, astronomy, chemistry, Earth sciences, and biology. ITMO University was named the best among more than 70 other universities in Russia.
“Fundamental knowledge is a backbone for any high-class specialist, and in that area, we’ve been delivering consistently good results. Yet it’s important not only to provide a solid foundation for our students – but also help them develop their teamwork skills, have access to real-world business cases, and meet top professionals early in their studies. Practicing specialists as lectures, early internship opportunities, and soft skills training – these are crucial for both the student and the industry. With this approach, our students won’t need to start – but will be able to continue their careers as they graduate, without having to spend much time on onboarding before they can have their hands on genuine tasks,” notes Vladimir Vasilyev, Rector of ITMO University.
Additionally, ITMO University was ranked first among the universities training specialists in humanities and featured among the top 10 universities – in engineering, technology, and engineering sciences. ITMO Master’s graduates were as well named in-demand on the labor market; ITMO University is featured in the top five universities that trains specialists in mathematical and natural sciences, as well as social sciences.
Currently, ITMO University has 26 Bachelor’s programs, most of which are implemented jointly with Russia’s major technological companies. For future developers of novel fundamental models and ML algorithms, the university offers AI360: ML NATIVE – the first-ever Bachelor’s program in Russia that combines the best practices of technology companies and the expertise of leading universities and ITMO in particular. There is also AI Engineering (in partnership with VK) for wanna-be AI experts and Computer Technologies (in partnership with Yandex, VK, Yadro, and T-Bank) for future developers.
