Three Places Near ITMO To Eat On A Budget
One of the most obvious and simple options is to eat at the university canteen. Everyone can find something for themselves there, because there are lots of options to choose from and they are not very expensive. For example, you can take salads, rice, meat, potatoes or other vegetables, and some kinds of pasta on the side. And the total cost of the whole meal would not be more than 250 rubles. Moreover, you can come to the canteen with your own food and warm it up or make a cup of tea, because there is a microwave and a boiler near the cashbox. You can pay either by card or in cash. In my opinion, the canteen at the building on Lomonosova street is better than the one on Kronverskiy prospect. Make sure to be quick to avoid long queues and get a table. And do not forget to carry your tray to a special window after you finish eating.
Now let’s talk about some places near the university. The first one is KFC, which is situated near Vladimirskaya metro station. It is a well-known fast-food restaurant, the food range of which is clear for everyone, I believe. What makes this place special is that all main dishes here are made from chicken. There you can eat at a relatively low price. But the main reason, why I add KFC to my selection is their promos. To be honest, it is a common practice in all fast-food restaurants now. For example, you can find promos for special sets which cost in general cheaper than all the meals that are included in these sets. Or you can get a discount on some meals. So, there are promo codes in KFC very often. One of them, which is my favorite, allows you to buy one Bucket Duet (2 chicken’s legs, 4 chicken steaks, 4 stripes, 2 small fries) for half of its price, in other words, it would cost 200 rubles. I think it is a bargain. But promos are usually relevant for a limited period of time, that is why you should follow official social pages of KFC (and other fast-food restaurants) to learn about all new promos. Sometimes after classes, it is a hard choice for me and my groupmates to choose where we should go to: KFC during a period of promo codes or another place, about which I will write in the next paragraph.
And this place is Chufalnya. "Chufalnya" is a common name of an authentic Asian canteen. There are a few of them, about which I know, in the city center, and one is near our university. It is situated five minutes away from ITMO on the way to Vladimirskaya metro station. The most expensive meal here costs around 450 rubles, but the average price of meals is from 250 to 300 rubles. In fact, it is not very much, because for that money you will get a large portion. My experience prompts me that it is enough to buy one meal for two people or two meals for three people. It means, that you would spend less money then I wrote a few sentences before. There are 25 meals with their own numbers from 1 to 25 at Chufalnya. The bestseller among my groupmates is meal number one. It is a plate with a portion of rice, which is given to you by default, then you can add three toppings from 6−7 ones. There are two types of tofu, soy asparagus, wood mushrooms, cauliflowers, wheat sprouts, and something else. It costs only 200 rubles and for an extra 50 rubles, you can add one more topping. Do not forget about the opportunity to share your plate with a friend. So, this way, I believe, it is the best choice of all meals anywhere. Moreover, there you can buy some Asian sweets, drinks, and noodles (there is a windshield along the wall). However, you cannot pay by card there and this is the main disadvantage of that place. But this problem becomes insignificant if you have a bank app and can make a transaction by card number.
