Students could choose several from a total of 71 tracks. ITMO traditionally organizes three of them: Information and Cyber Security; Robotics; and Programming and Information Technologies – the latter being one of the top 10 tracks among students, with 18,200 applications sent in from all over Russia. Moreover, ITMO students have made the greatest number of registrations among universities in St. Petersburg: 1,843 members of ITMO Family will be participating in the competition.
“The high popularity of the tracks Programming and IT and Artificial Intelligence is quite a natural pattern not only for St. Petersburg, but for the entire country. These are two of the most in-demand, promising fields for a future career. At the same time, competencies in these two fields can develop contemporary medicine – so they will also be of use for participants of the track Medicine and Pediatrics, which was the top choice among St. Petersburg-based applicants. In our world, these technologies are relevant for successful specialists in any field,” says Alexey Itin, the head of ITMO’s Admission Office.

In this season of I Am a Professional, participants can access a plethora of career resources: consultations, guides, recommendations, meetings with potential employers at educational forums and schools within the competition, as well as internship and potential employment opportunities from corporate partners.
This year, participants of the selection round will also enjoy access to the competition’s careers portal – previously, this perk was only for the participants and winners of the finals. Now, every participant will be able to kickstart their career with an internship at a major company.
The selection round of the contest will be held from November 15 to December 1, 2024.
Winners of the competition receive bonuses when applying to their next level of education; for instance, they can enroll in ITMO Master’s programs without exams. Medalists of the contest receive an additional monetary prize of up to 300,000 rubles.
