Winter Engineering School

Who can join. The school welcomes everyone interested, but will primarily benefit senior Bachelor’s students and graduates in engineering, young scientists, and fledgling engineering developers.

School structure. Organized by ITMO’s Higher School of Engineering and Technology, the school will feature webinars by ITMO’s leading lecturers, networking opportunities, and an ITMO merch giveaway.

Among the school’s key topics are the trends in modern PLDs and their applications in instrumentation, macrophotography and the capacities of smartphone cameras for studying micro objects, applications of ultralow temperatures for natural gas transportation, and more. 

The school will be held in Russian.

Benefits. Participants will get to know modern engineering technologies and expand their knowledge in the fields of optics, lightguide photonics, fiber sensors, and programmable electronics.

All participants will have the chance to meet the staff of ITMO’s Higher School of Engineering and Technology and learn about their projects, as well as get a certificate at the end of the school.

Winners of the final competition will receive diplomas that will give them the opportunity to enter one of the following Master’s programs, offered by the Higher School of Engineering, without exams:

Key dates. The school will be held on February 25-28. Registration is open until February 21. An offline meeting and awards ceremony for participants will be held on March 15.

Winter School in Robotics

Who can join. Bachelor’s students in their third and fourth years and graduates.

School structure. Held online, the school will include five tracks:

  • Control Systems and Robotics;
  • Robotics and AI;
  • Digital Technologies in Manufacturing;
  • Electrical Engineering;
  • Navigation and Movement Control. 

Participants can join all tracks or choose the one most suited to their interests.

Participants will learn about cutting-edge robotics technologies, navigation, and sensors, as well as about robots that monitor pipelines and oil depot terminals and unmanned vehicles. Among the lecturers are young scientists working at Yandex Robotics, Sberbank’s Robotics Center, Starline, Yablochkov, and Askon. 

On the final day of the school, participants will take a test on the topic of their chosen track. 

The school will be held in Russian.

Benefits. Those participants who get the highest points in the test will be able to enter one of the following Master’s programs, offered by ITMO’s Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics, without exams: 

On February 7, the Faculty of Control Systems and Robotics will hold a festival, where all participants will receive certificates, as well as get to meet heads of the faculty’s educational programs and representatives of over 20 robotics companies: Starline, Diakont, Yablochkov, Askon, NIIAS by Russian Railways, CSRI Elektropribor, and others. The festival will be held on Kronverksky Pr. 49.

Key dates. The school will be held on January 27-February 1. To take part, register on the school’s website until January 26.

Technosphere

Who can join. 3rd- and 4th-year Bachelor’s students, 4th- and 5th-year Specialist’s students, Bachelor’s graduates, and Master’s students.

Event structure. Technosphere is an online case championship organized by ITMO’s Faculty of Ecotechnologies, featuring webinars on sustainable development and workshops on hard and soft skills.

To join the championship, participants need to form a team of three people and submit an application. If you do not have a team, the organizers will form one for you. Teams will be tasked with solving real-world cases in the fields of ecology and sustainable development and present their ideas to the jury. Potential cases include proposing a water-saving technology concept, creating a plan to implement green corporate culture at a company, or developing an action plan to eliminate an environmental disaster in Anapa using telecommunications technologies. Cases will be provided by the project’s partners, among them Beeline, NIIURS (Green Zoom), Synergetic, BASF, TSQ Consulting, and Rostov Plumbing Manufactory.

The event will be held in Russian.

Benefits. Participants will get to work on real-world ecology cases; authors of the best solutions will be able to enter one of the Master’s programs by the Faculty of Ecotechnologies without exams: Sustainable Development and Environmental Management or Industrial Ecology.

Key dates. The championship will be held on February 17-28. Participants will pitch their projects on February 28. You can apply for Technosphere and choose a case until February 15.

ITMO Mega School

Who can join. Bachelor’s students of any Russian university and those with a degree of any level.

School structure. ITMO Mega School includes 18 tracks in various fields, including AI, software engineering, computer technologies, mobile development, physics, chemistry, and others. The school is held online.

On day one of the school, participants will attend lectures by ITMO lecturers and guest experts. On days two and three, there will be workshops and lectures held in each track. After that, participants will take the final test based on the lectures in their respective tracks.

The event will be held in Russian.

Benefits. At the school, participants will network with specialists in IT, robotics, physics, chemistry, and other fields, as well as learn about studies and opportunities at ITMO. Winners of ITMO Mega School will have the chance to enroll into a Master’s program corresponding to their track without exams.

Key dates. The school will be held on January 29-31. To participate, sign up on the website, indicating your track until January 28.
