One of history’s most enigmatiс painters, Albrecht Dürer is perhaps not your typical go-to for a pre-New Year museum visit. But perhaps his masterful engravings are just what you need to add some contrast to the colorful winter fairytale that’s already surrounding you – just look at all the decorations in the city. At the exhibition, you will get the chance to see the artist’s works from the collections of several Russian museums. Moreover, you will get to explore the way it was organized: for a year specialists at the Hermitage have been documenting this process to let you have a peek at the museum’s labs and archives.

St. Petersburg Handmade Market

Another option for your last-minute gift shopping is this handmade market with even more one-of-a-kind creations by St. Pete designers. There will be bracelets and other accessories, as well as nut butter, honey, and sweets. Luckily, as this market is located not far from the first one on our list, you can fit them into one day to get all your shopping done and have some wonderful time. A win-win situation by any definition.

Christmas organ concert

If you want to get a European Christmas experience, then a church organ concert is the place to go. We’ve written about Petrikirche many times and there isn’t any doubt it will serve as a wonderful backdrop for the deep, ponderous, and uplifting music that will reign at the show. This is a chance to take a step away from the modern view on the winter holidays and look into their historical roots.
