Cries of the City

Summer calls for open-air concerts – and they deliver. This Friday, the chamber choir Festino will explore the sound palette of the urban environment – from the ambience of local markets to the sounds of trains. The concert will be accompanied by works of 20th and 21st-century composers.

Popcorn Market х Wow Mom Market

What could be better than a market? That’s right: two markets rolled into one. From 12 to 15 June, Sevkabel Port will be hosting a special four-day-long market that will collect all the best in one place: 100+ local brands, arts and crafts workshops, outdoor chill zones, and live DJ sets.

On the big screen: Whiplash

Damien Chazelle's other great work, Whiplash (2014), is going big-screen this Sunday at the gorgeous Rodina Cinema. If you haven’t seen it yet, this is a story of an aspiring young drummer who gets into a music conservatory – where his ambitions are put to the test.

The movie is screened in English with Russian subtitles.

Empathy Machines

Empathy Machines, an exhibition by ITMO’s Art & Science Center, explores how human emotions, technologies, AI, and biological processes are intertwined in the art of new media. It presents a series of 13 installations created by ITMO graduates that are, among many other things, highly technological – and interactive. At the exhibition, visitors will be able to “communicate” with a robotic hive that responds to breath and movement, listen to music created by air bubbles, and more.

Under the Shadow of the Russian Ballet

Watch a ballet? No, listen to a ballet and take in the beauty of its melodies. Next Tuesday, the ballets of world-famous composers – Modest Mussorgsky, Alexander Borodin, and others – will be brought to life at St. Petersburg Philharmonia.

Outdoor yoga by Context

The outdoor yoga season is on – bring your mat and get ready for a peaceful practice in a sunlit park. All local yogis can now meet at outdoor sessions by the local club Context. The sessions are donation-based – and are held weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays.
