While we at ITMO wholeheartedly stan interdisciplinary competencies, we’ve also got good news for those genetics scholars who are yet to gain a good handle on programming. GenomeAI is a student-developed research platform that requires no coding skills from its users. With it, scientists can simplify the oft-arduous process of analyzing bacteria, developing medications, or preserving species of flora and fauna. The AI-powered software is designed in accordance with state standards and features extensive security algorithms for added safety of experimental data.

“Small but fierce” would be an apt description for the tiny “shields” developed by researchers at ITMO and their colleagues from China and the UK. By releasing an inhibitor agent, the microcapsules defend various metals from corrosion over a 2-week period. What’s more, there is potential for “smart” capsules that would react with precision to various external stimuli.
