Philharmonic Season Opening

As nature embraces fall, the philharmonia opens its doors for a new season of musical favorites and discoveries. This opening concert will feature pieces by Shostakovich, Tchaikovsky, and Tishchenko as performed by St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra and St. Petersburg Chamber Choir. We have a beautiful new season ahead!

The Long Walk

What would The Hunger Games be like if they were written by Stephen King? You won’t have to imagine – just come and see for yourself on the big screen. In The Long Walk’s dystopian future, teenagers take to the road as part of a public competition where they have to keep walking no matter what – those who stop are eliminated. Who will remain and will the tables finally turn? Discover on Friday. The film will be screened in English with Russian subtitles; age rating 18+, viewer discretion advised.

Field Recording

If you are a fan of nature sounds for studies, this meeting of the Community Center’s music club is for you. Learn all about how these recordings are made and why, while also picking up a few facts on the benefits of making such recordings and listening to these sounds. The meeting will be held by Yulia Romanova, the founder of a field-recording-for-everyone project. As the event will be held in Russian, it will be a great chance to not only listen to some unique recordings, but also practice your language skills.

Pavlovsk Squirrel festival

Yes, this is mainly a children’s festival, but we welcome any reason to visit Pavlovsk Park – just think about the precious autumn air, the yellow leaves rustling on the ground, and that home-packed thermos of hot tea in your backpack. It will be a perfect outdoor Sunday, colored by all the squirrel-themed activities held in the park – bring your friends and join in the light-hearted fun!
