  • Omega-3 Fatty Acids of Plant Origin and Biomedical Tasks: ITMO Scientists’ Research at University of Lorraine

    This fall, PhD student Daria Kuznetsova and Master’s student Mariam Muradova from the Faculty of Food Biotechnologies and Engineering, who are also members of the “Biotechnologies of the Third Millennium” international research center, will go to the University of Lorraine to conduct research in the field of life sciences. For Daria, this will be her second trip to France, where she’ll continue to work on her research thesis. Mariam spent last year’s spring semester at the University of Verona, Italy, and this year, she will continue her research in the field of plant biotechnology.   • How to Apply for (And Get) the Chevening Scholarship

    The Chevening scholarship is one of the world’s most well-known and prestigious and covers students’ full costs of Master’s education at any university in the UK, as well as some of the living expenses. The competition is tense, with some 30 times more applicants than there are open spots. But getting a Chevening scholarship is still doable if you put in the effort, believes Asya Kazantseva, a popular Russian science journalist and writer. This year, she was awarded a scholarship to study in a Master’s program in molecular neurobiology at the University of Bristol. During a recent open lecture in St. Petersburg, Ms. Kazantseva shared a few tips and warned of the common pitfalls made by Chevening applicants.

  • Short-Term Academic Mobility Programs: How to Get University’s Financial Support

    Apart from going on semester-long academic mobility programs, ITMO’s students can also get financial support for participating in short-term international events and research internships. Such support covers up to two short-term events a semester, so even if you’re planning to go study abroad in spring, you still have the chance to participate in various conferences, forums, workshops and other academic activities during the winter semester.

  • Password-Protected Labs on the Red Sea Shore: KAUST Photonics Summer School

    This summer, Artyom Larin, a Master’s student at ITMO’s Department of Nanophotonics and Metamaterials, got to spend one month in the prestigious Photonics summer school held by the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia. Having gone through the extremely competitive selection process of 20 people per place, the student was awarded a one-off opportunity to participate in the cutting-edge optics research project together with two other ITMO University students.
