  The sedentary conditions of self-isolation can be a serious blow to your mental and physical health. Even when stuck at home, it’s important to engage in some physical activity and not turn your back on sports. The World Health Organization recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity per week – this is enough to keep fit and feel energized and motivated. • ITMO’s Chess Team Places Second at World InterUniversities Championships in Croatia

  On November 13-17, the city of Pula (Croatia) hosted the 5th World InterUniversities Championships, which saw students compete in a wide range of sports. ITMO University was represented by two teams vying for the main prize in the tennis and chess categories. In the team event, ITMO’s chess players managed to win silver in the prestigious competition. ITMO.NEWS met the team’s members to talk about their experience and being part of the university’s chess club.

• “St. Petersburg Games” Unite 12 Russian Students Sports Clubs’ Activists In St. Petersburg

  On 16-20 October, Kronbars, ITMO University’s student sports club together with the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs and the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia (ASSC) organized “St. Petersburg Games 2019”, a national student club tournament. The even brought together 12 teams from all over Russia: from Ulan-Ude to Volgograd.

• ITMO University Students Take Part in World Ultimate Frisbee Championship

  On July 13-20, the German city of Heidelberg hosted the 2019 World Ultimate Frisbee Championship for athletes under 24 years old. The competition brought together some 1,300 participants split into 51 teams from 29 countries. The Russian national team was represented by, among others, three ITMO University students. ITMO.NEWS talked to them about how long they have been into this sport, and how they manage to juggle studies with intense frisbee training.

• ITMO’s KronBars Tops List of Russia’s Best Student Sports Clubs

  Last week, the Association of Student Sports Clubs of Russia (ASSC) celebrated its fifth anniversary and organized the National Forum of Student Sports Clubs, which took place in St. Petersburg and brought together 1,000 participants from 73 regions of Russia (250 universities). During the course of a week, they discussed ASSC’s development strategies and the future of student sports in Russia and chose the best student sports club. ITMO University’s club KronBars topped the ranking.
