  • Voting Begins as ITMO Highpark Exhibition Opens in St. Petersburg

    From November 22 till December 15, 2018, an exhibition of concept designs for ITMO University’s new campus and innovations center Highpark will be hosted in the ITMO building at Lomonosova St. 9. Students, staff and guests can learn about each of the four architectural proposals and cast their vote by filling out a form on the spot or taking the online survey.

  • National Technology Revolution 20.35: Universities as Driving Force of Change

    Today’s universities institute innovation ecosystems, where they send their graduates equipped with skills necessary for working in a hi-tech company.   • ITMO’s Teaching Methodology Wins Best Innovation Product Award

    Early in 2017, ITMO staff have developed a unique methodology for the project-based learning of nanotechnologies. Since that time, it has been tried and tested by the Sirius educational center, federal networks of kids’ technoparks Quantorium, and, starting from this academic year, have been rolled out in ITMO University itself. The technique has also recently been recognized by the Government of St. Petersburg’s Committee on Science and Higher Education, who awarded it an honorary prize for being the ‘Best Innovative Product’. Iana Muzychenko, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Engineering, and Mikhail Mukhin, Head of the Faculty’s Nanocenter, met with ITMO.NEWS to discuss why project-based learning is so effective and how it motivates students to approach unconventional scientific tasks.

  • ITMO University Topped GoTech Ranking

    For the third time, the GoTech Innovation company assessed Russian universities in terms of the number of IT entrepreneurs they trained. The data used in the study was obtained via questionnaires. For the first time, ITMO University took first place. According to the company’s estimates, ITMO students and graduates accounted for more than 5% of all the entrepreneurs who participated in the GoTech contest last year.

    Rostelecom and ITMO University have signed a cooperation agreement on joint acceleration programs and technological startups development.   • Go Green in the City: ITMO Team Wins Regional Stage of Eco-Friendly Competition

    Members of ITMO’s Department of Industrial Ecology and Safety Anastasia Pavlova and Violetta Savoscula won the regional stage of the international Go Green in the City competition, held annually by the Schneider Electric company. The contest’s participants had to solve one of five tasks on reducing energy waste and improving the quality of life in urban areas. ITMO team’s project on the use of thermoelectric modules in inland water transport for increasing the efficiency of diesel engines bested over 160 competitors.
