The project’s first stage will include the construction of multi-sectioned apartment buildings, 5-10 stories high, on three plots of lands, with built-in extended commercial premises of 600-800 square meters and a general practitioner’s office. Apart from that, the city will also welcome a kindergarten for 160 children and a sports facility, says Sergey Khromov, CEO of Gorod-Sputnik Yuzhny, LLC.
The satellite city’s first residential and social facilities will be situated near ITMO Highpark, a world-class research, education, and innovation center, in proximity to the Lesnoe (29 Kilometer) railway station. As noted by Andrey Nazarov, CEO of ITMO Highpark JSC, construction of the high-tech campus is also currently in full swing. He reported that once the engineering infrastructure on the site is put in place, which is planned to occur by the end of 2022, construction of the main academic building will commence.
Earlier on, Start Development and Bank Saint Petersburg agreed to co-finance the construction of the project’s first stage. Within this phase, the construction will cover 240,000 square meters out of the total 78 hectares, with 210,000 square meters reserved for future housing.
In accordance with requirements set by the government’s IT industry support initiative, the construction of the first residential buildings will go hand in hand with that of ITMO’s second campus and other ITMO Highpark facilities. A large share of the city's residential housing will be available for purchase under special mortgage rates available to employees of IT companies.
