In 2023, ITMO graduates earned 235,000 rubles per month on average. Within a year, that number has grown by 25,000, with only Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology reaching a similar growth benchmark (11%) among the universities evaluated in the federal ranking. It’s the second year in a row that ITMO lands in second place; this year, it’s followed by Lomonosov Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, and Higher School of Economics, who all share the third place.
This year’s ranking by SuperJob assesses the average salaries of specialists employed in the IT field who graduated from a given university between 2018 and 2023. These professionals are involved in development, information security, software testing, DevOps, analytics, data science and engineering, and machine learning.
Additionally, the ranking takes into account the average Unified State Exam (USE) scores of students admitted to each university in 2023. Here, ITMO made it to the top, too, with the average score of 95.1 (out of 100) – and with 78% of graduates opting to live and work in St. Petersburg. A total of 65 Russian universities from 32 cities are included in this year’s ranking, seven of which are based in St. Petersburg.
