Looking out the window now, I am reassured once again that I’ve found just the perfect song for this unexpectedly jolly October (thanks to Spotify’s weekly suggestions) – Fight to Make it Up by Takénobu. The magnificent mesmerising and upbeat string parts somewhat satisfied my craving for a classical concert (which I still got to visit this month!) while also making every walk memorable and cinematic. When I first heard the song, I was a little startled by the fact that it contained lyrics, expecting it to be an instrumental piece, but now I can’t imagine it any different from what it is. Almost like dandelion wine, this song for me is autumn encapsulated.

October, thanks to warm weather, was the month of the long walks, from work to home mostly. It was a true delight catching sunsets at the Palace Bridge almost on a daily basis, accompanied by the music that calms down your thoughts. This time, it was First Love / Late Spring by Mitski that stole my heart. I couldn’t help soaking in the hypnotising tunes and absolutely heartbreaking lyrics. My favorite love song so far!

There’s something about listening to heart-melting songs when it’s getting all gray and rainy (not in a depressive way!). So, no wonder that my soundtrack of this October is Weather by Novo Amor – hands-down my new love. This is a hauntingly beautiful combo of touching lyrics and a soothing tune that fits perfectly for when you want to get lost in your thoughts and emotions.

The month of October marks the onset of the festive season for every Indian and I am no exception to that. Groovy Bollywood songs helped me shake a leg and celebrate the festival in St. Petersburg. The song Jai jai shiv shankar from the movie War featuring Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan helped me stay upbeat. The colors used in the music video are amazing and the dance moves are thrilling to behold!

Blue Öyster Cult and one of their most popular songs (Don't Fear) The Reaper were one of those things that are quite well-known but still got somehow overlooked by me (and now I can’t understand why). Until now, I’ve only heard the cover by Him, which is also cool, but the original song is so spot-on it’s hard to compete with it. Both tragic and upbeat, it’s a perfect mix of melancholy and romance. Sounds like something suitable for autumn to me.
