This week, one of the most atmospheric and peculiar cathedrals in St. Pete, the Lutheran Annenkirche church, celebrates its anniversary! The program of the celebration includes a lecture diving into the history of this unique place on October 24, a concert of exotic marimba and vibraphone music performed by the Percussion Today Project band on October 25, a concert of organ music at 8pm on October 26, and a jazz mass at 3pm on October 27, as well as tours of the church and a Lutheran food-court. Among the highlights are Wolfgang Fischer’s Styx, a compelling migrant crisis drama set on the high seas; Andreas Dresen’s Gundermann about life and career of singer and writer Gerhard Gundermann; and Der Junge muss an die frische Luft, story of one of Germany’s most beloved contemporary comedians, by Oscar-winning director Caroline Link.

There is no tastier and more pleasant way to fight off the fall blues than by spending a night out with friends and a mug of hot, fruity mulled wine. Head to the Museum of Spices (the first in Russia and third in the world!) to learn about all the ins and outs of how to make a perfect mulled wine, as well as explore the incredible world of spices and herbs and discover how it has influenced humankind. The workshops on mulled wine making (400 rubles) will take place at 4.30 pm and 5.30 pm, while tours of the museum’s collection will be held at 4.30 and 6.30 (300 rubles).
