Seasonal swaps

There’s no need to make drastic changes to your home every season, but even the tiniest updates to your surroundings can make a lot of difference. It’s all about the details: they help you appreciate each season, give you something to wait for, and ultimately make life more fun.

The first step would be to put away everything you probably won’t need for the next couple of months. This mainly includes warm clothes and shoes. Give them a clean and store them out of sight to create space for the new season. If you need some organization tips, you know where to go.

Now that we’re at it, having a decluttering session and giving your place a deep clean are also great ways to have a fresh start. But hey, it’s optional, we won’t insist on that. Hopefully, in the summer, you spend more time outside anyway, at least when the weather allows for it.

Another important swap to make is to replace wool or other heavy throws for cotton or linen fabrics. You really don’t want to sit on something soft and fluffy when it’s 30 degrees out. Opt for more natural and thin materials.

Design choices that scream summer

Let’s continue our makeover with affordable ideas to make it feel like summer:

  • Bring out seasonal decor: maybe you have a wicker basket, some seashells and other souvenirs, or a fancy water pitcher to be filled with lemon- or mint-induced water. If nothing comes to mind, maybe it’s time to splurge on decor a little!

  • Get some fruit and veggies and put them in a nice bowl to always have access to a healthy summer snack. And yes, they’re bright-colored, so this will also liven up your interior with a pop of color.

  • Put up summer-themed artwork or maybe even create it yourself by making a collage with pictures that you associate with this season. Seaside landscapes, sand beaches, sunshine – they look good no matter how you combine them.

  • Try to embed the summer palette somewhere. It includes colors like blue, white, lemon yellow, leaf green, as well as their combinations. Even a small detail like a mug that follows such a color scheme will do. Especially if you avoid using it during winter!

To sum up, the key idea here is to establish your own associations with summer. We put up Christmas decor every year and it instantly feels like winter. So, why shouldn’t we do something like that for each season?
