We’re never too old for fairy tales, especially for the ones by Lewis Carroll. That’s why we invite you to travel to the irrational yet magnificent world inspired by Carroll's books at the Alice Through the Looking Glass immersive exhibition. It’s a place where fantasies become reality: you can stroll along a garden of animated flowers, join the mad tea party with the Hatter and the March Hare, play royal croquet, and even find a way out of a maze. The exhibition includes mirror illusions, interactive installations, and photo and play areas. By the way, if you’re into marine life, Planeta Neptun also has a mind-blowing oceanarium (for 550-750 rubles) – and we promise, it’s worth visiting.

Edvard Munch: The Scream of Art exhibition

Most people have come to know the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1863-1944) through his thrilling masterpiece The Scream (1893), one of the most iconic pictures in the history of art, probably second to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa. This weekend, you have the chance to explore the artist’s legacy by visiting the Scream of Art exhibition at the Loft Project Etagi. This is a retrospective of Edvard Munch’s creative path that features his most and less popular works, including the Frieze of Life series. Dig into the history of each and every painting, treat yourself to nice souvenirs, take memorable and funny photos, as well as learn more about the artist and his life during a free tour or a two-hour lecture. While you’re there, don’t miss out on other opportunities such as climbing up to the roof to see beautiful St. Petersburg in winter (but don’t forget to warm up!) or visiting a contemporary art festival, among other things.

Market by the Sea

If you’re looking for gifts or something nice for yourself, the Market by the Sea is a perfect place: explore numerous stalls selling locally-made clothes, organic cosmetics, handmade ceramics, and accessories. Here, you will also find beautifully made books from St. Petersburg’s publishing houses, vinyl records, and ready-to-eat foods, including cheese from local farms. It's also a unique chance to help others by buying a pair of socks, notebooks, or cups, acquire new skills at the market’s various workshops, and enjoy the upbeat vibes supplied by the city’s popular DJs. And that’s far from it, find out the rest yourself this weekend.

There’s no better time for outdoor activities than holidays, especially on snowy days. Check the weather forecast, put on some warm clothes, and head to the city’s most popular parks, ice-rinks, or travel away from the historic downtown to the suburbs. As well as explore the unexpectedly new sides of St. Petersburg by visiting its most Italian places, enjoying breathtaking views from the city’s bridges, or finding one of Russia's hidden medieval gems
