ITMO University oversees three of the contest’s tracks: Programming & Information Technologies; Robotics; and Information & Cyber Security (all three are part of the Computer Sciences subject area). Sberbank is the general partner of the tracks.
Based on the results of the first round of the contest’s seventh season, Programming & Information Technologies landed in the top 10 tracks most often chosen by participants – with over 21,000 registrations (4,000 more than last year) and 3,624 actual participants. The top three most popular tracks are General Medicine & Pediatrics, Law, and Psychology.
Traditionally, Programming and Information Technologies is also a track popular with ITMO students participating in the contest.
“We see a great interest in this track, including from our own students. It’s no surprise, of course, because many of them entered ITMO thanks to various contests, so they are used to competing. We support them in this endeavor because such competitions are great skill boosters; they also help our students stand out on the job market,” shared Alexey Itin, the head of ITMO’s Admissions Office.

Around 2,700 ITMO students took part in the contest’s first round, which concluded on December 3, with 983 of them proceeding to the finals. Apart from the track mentioned above, ITMO students also favored the tracks Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence.
The finals of I Am a Professional will start in February and take place in a hybrid format. Those participating in the Robotics track will get to bring their designs to life at ITMO’s laboratories. You can follow the contest’s news on the official website or VK page (both in Russian).
