• ITMO University in 2020: A Year in Review

  This year was a year like no other. We started it ready to celebrate ITMO’s 120th anniversary, but before we knew it, our entire digital infrastructure was put to the test. Though it was not an experience anyone could be prepared for, our staff and students handled it like champs. Truly, it was a jubilee year to remember. So, let’s look back at some of 2020’s top news and what we’ve achieved here at ITMO University!

• ITMO University Team Comes Second in Online Stage of ICPC Northern Eurasia Finals

  On December 13, the online stage of the ICPC (International Collegiate Programming Contest) Northern Eurasia competition took place. The team from ITMO University placed second and will now go on to participate in the offline stage of the competition. Its ultimate prize will be the opportunity to represent their university in the finals of the international student programming competition ICPC-2021.

• ITMO’s Researcher Marina Dukhinova on Viral Pneumonia and Ways to Treat It

  Recently, ITMO University scientists have published an article in Cytokine & Growth Factor Reviews that reviewed global studies of viral pneumonia over the past years. ITMO.NEWS talked to Marina Dukhinova, one of the authors of the article, about this illness, its causes, and ways to study it.

• NTI FoodNet: How Food Science and New Technologies Can Save the Planet

  On November 27, the team of the National Technological Initiative presented a vision statement of a roadmap for the development of the  FoodNet market in Russia. On the team was Olga Orlova, head of the Digitalization of Food Technologies group at ITMO’s Infochemistry Scientific Center and head of the FoodTech Entrepreneurship specialization at ITMO’s Innovative Entrepreneurship Master’s program.
