Editor Clare Wilkinson on Challenges to the Field of Science Communication During and After the Pandemic

ITMO University Holds Course on Science Communication for Scholars and Grantees of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation
The program aims to familiarize university staff with the recent practices in science communication and help them develop a communication strategy to promote their own projects. A total of 50 people from nearly 40 regions of Russia have recently become the first participants of the course. The program will run until the end of 2021.

Principle of Collaboration Exhibition Launches at ITMO
The exhibition was devised by students of the Master’s program Science Communication and the curator Olga Remneva in collaboration with some of the university’s own laboratories. The event offers members of the public an opportunity to explore the world of science through works of visual and audio art. The event will run until December 24 at the Art.ITMO.Residency (St. Petersburg, Birzhevaya Liniya 16).

New Citizen Science Project Helps Researchers Find Volunteers
Launched in October, the Liudi Nauki (“People of Science” – Ed.) website helps regular citizens participate in research – and scientists to find volunteers for their projects. Oncologist Maksim Kotov: Communicating With a Patient Shouldn’t Be a Game of Luck
ITMO University is currently hosting a course on effective communication with patients. The workshops for Master’s students in the field of Science Communication are delivered by oncologist Maksim Kotov. In his classes, he explains to students how misunderstandings between doctors and patients impact the quality of medicine and the public’s attitude towards it.
