ITMO University has been ranked among the top 40 universities in countries with emerging economies as part of the Times Higher Education Emerging Economies University Rankings-2020. The full ranking was published on February 18, 2020. The St. Petersburg-based university has strengthened its position and rose up to the 35th spot after placing 53rd last year. All in all, the latest THE ranking includes more than 400 universities.
The latest Times Higher Education subject ranking of world universities in the field of Physical Sciences has just been published. ITMO University made its debut in the ranking two years ago and has been improving its position. In this year’s ranking, which includes over 1,000 universities, ITMO is placed 251-300.
The Times Higher Education ranking agency has recently announced the results of its new rankings, THE University Impact Rankings. This initiative’s goal is to capture universities’ impact on society, based on the institutions’ success in delivering the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. ITMO University made its debut in the rankings in two categories: “Industry, innovation and infrastructure”, and “Sustainable cities and communities”, making it to the global top-100 and top-200, respectively.
The Times Higher Education magazine has just published the results of the Emerging Economies University Rankings 2019, which features the best higher education institutions in developing countries. In this year’s ranking, which includes a total of 442 universities from 43 countries, ITMO University moved up four positions and was placed 53rd.

ITMO got an even higher recognition nationally, ranking 10th amongst Russian higher education institutions. THE Eurasia Rankings 2018 were announced at the Times Higher Education summit concluding today, August 31, in the Russian city of Kazan.
ITMO University took the first place in computer science and the third place in chemistry and chemical technologies in Expert Analytical Center's subject rankings of Russian universities. The independent ranking focuses on evaluation and assessment of scientific work in universities.

Times Higher Education released its rankings for Computer Science and Engineering and Technology subjects. ITMO University kept its place in the top 100 of world’s best universities, taking 76th place in Computer Science, and also entered Engineering and Technology ranking for the first time in the 301-400 group. This year, top 100 subject rankings were extended to include 300 universities for Computer Science and 500 for Engineering and Technology.
