International Master’s Programs (in English)
There are several Master’s programs available in English. Some of these are joint programs, where you study for one year at ITMO University, and one year in a partner university, usually in Europe, and you receive a degree from both universities. There are also Master’s programs in English which are entirely based at ITMO University. This year, the number of international programs has increased.
A new Art & Science Master’s program is being launched this year which brings together both creative and technical graduates. The application deadline is 1 July 2018. Send your CV & Motivation letter to ScArt@corp.ifmo.ru.
There is also a new Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Master’s program being launched with the Institute of Bioinformatics. During the program, students will have the opportunity to participate in an internship at Washington University in St. Louis, USA, and also european scientific centers.

Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Russian
To enrol in a Bachelor’s program you must have a sufficient Russian language level. For those students who do not have a sufficient Russian language level, they must enrol first in the university’s foundation program.
Bachelor’s programs run for four years and are offered within the following top majors:
- Computer Technologies and Controls
- Internet Technologies and Programming
- Photonics
- Refrigeration Industry and Food Biotechnologies
- Economics, Management and Innovations

The purpose of the foundation program is to assist students who have little or no knowledge of the Russian language with the necessary skills to enter Russian-taught Bachelor and Master’s programs. The foundation program runs for 9 months (from October till June) and includes intensive Russian language classes and specific technical subjects depending on the field the student intends to pursue a degree in.
You do not need to choose your specific Bachelor’s program at this point, but you should pick one of the following tracks: engineering, natural sciences or social sciences.

PhD Programs

Academic Mobility
ITMO University has a large number of opportunities for studying in other countries. You can go to any of the partner universities for internships and take part in joint research projects with international scientists. In your second year of Bachelor’s you can participate in the academic mobility competition, and the university will help you get a grant to study abroad. One of our students shares her experience of going abroad to Finland for a semester.
