Tell us something about your country.

I was born in 1994 in Tehran, Iran. It is a country with a rich history built over thousands of years. Achaemenid Cyrus is one of the most famous people in my country. Iran has many tourist attractions that include historic cities like Isfahan, Yazd, and Kermanshah. In total, Iran has 31 provinces, each of which has its own landmarks.

Why did you decide to study in Russia?

I wanted to study European history and Russia is a country that cares about its history a lot. It is clearly evident from the museums and monuments. St. Petersburg is in itself a treasury of the country’s rich history and legacy. Therefore, I could not by any means miss an opportunity to study in St. Petersburg.

What are you studying at ITMO?

I have a Bachelor's degree in history and a Master's degree in tourism management. I am currently enrolled in ITMO’s Russian-language Foundation Program where I am learning Russian. This will help me study Russian history further.

What is your fondest memory at ITMO so far?

Recently, I participated in the 11th Congress of Young Scientists, which was held on April 4-8, 2022. I presented a software project there that received high praise and that motivated me further to participate in such events.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies include: traveling with my family, reading books, which mostly are history books and in some cases, if necessary, travelogues, and listening to music. I even listen to music while working, especially when I put my writer's cap on.

Do you have any favorite Russian food?

None yet, unfortunately. I prefer traditional Iranian food and the only food that Iran and Russia have in common is kebab and sheesh kebab. There are a few restaurants in St. Petersburg that offer delicious kebabs and I love having them occasionally.

What is your favorite place in St. Petersburg?

St. Petersburg is a beautiful city with numerous attractions. The Hermitage Museum, the National Library, and of course the St. Petersburg State University have caught the historian’s eye in me.

What are your future plans?

I have big plans and goals for the future, and it remains to be seen how things turn out. However, I would love to continue doing research after my graduation even if I get a job. My thirst for knowledge is unquenchable and I want to continue learning forever.

What would you like to tell to the students who want to study in Russia?

The language barrier is still a problem in Russia. Therefore it is advisable to have some basic knowledge of the language before coming here. Educated people are well respected here and job opportunities are abundant. Therefore, I would surely encourage students to consider Russia as their destination for higher education.
