  • ITMO Students Take First Place in Physics Competition

    For the first time ever, ITMO University students won the annual regional student competition in physics. Denis Sedov and Anton Shubnik, second-year Bachelor’s students at the Faculty of Physics and Engineering, took first place in both team and individual championships. The competition was held at St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University “LETI”. In this interview with ITMO.NEWS, the winners share their advice on how to solve competitions tasks to succeed.

  • Over 200 Students Register For "I am a Professional" Competition

    The registration for the "I am a Professional" competition started on September 26. Since then, the number of applications has exceeded the 200,000 mark. The event gives Russia's best students an opportunity to get benefits for applying to Master's and PhD programs at the country's leading universities, as well as compete for internships at major companies and cash prizes. The registration deadline is November 22.

  • Winners of SPb School CTF-2018: How to Become a Successful Hacker When You're 11

    At the beginning of October, ITMO University hosted SPb School CTF-2018, an information security competition for school students. ITMO’s school team ITMO.KIDS consisting of 11th-grader Artem Zaglubotsky and seventh-grader Yuri Grishin took first place.   • ITMO.KIDS Carry the Day in SPb School CTF-2018 Information Security Tournament

    On October 6, ITMO University hosted SPb School CTF-2018, the second regional school competition in the field of information security organized by ITMO together with the Association of Chief Information Security Officers (ACISO). It may not surprise you that ITMO University school team ITMO.KIDS took first prize, but what is remarkable is that the winning squad only consisted of two people: Artem Zaglubotsky, an 11th-grader from the School №261, and Yuri Grishin, a seventh-grader from the School №486. The two powerhouses competed against teams that included six people on average.

  • Fighting Talk: Management Sparrings Participants Discuss their Experience

    Last weekend, ITMO University hosted the St. Petersburg’s Cup in Management Sparring. An initiative of the interregional non-profit ‘Federation of Management Sparrings’, the competition takes inspiration from innovative techniques developed by Vladimir Tarasov, founder of the Tallinn School of Management. Company executives, managers, entrepreneurs, tax consultants, lawyers and real estate brokers attended the event to test their management prowess. The diverse pool of contestants also included students from ITMO University’s Faculty of Technological Management and Innovations.

  • ITMO Rowing Club: Healthy Lifestyle and International Competitions

    This fall, ITMO’s rowing club will be celebrating its third birthday. The level of competitions that the club participates in has been growing with each year of its existence. This academic year, it was for the first time that ITMO rowing team participated in student competitions abroad when they went to China to compete with 20 best student clubs from all over the world, and took part in the World Rowing Cup in Poland. In August, the team will also go to participate in a competition in Dresden, Germany. ITMO.NEWS asked the team’s members about the club's activities and the opportunities it offers.

  • ITMO Student Wins VK Cup-2018

    ITMO University student Mikhail Putilin took first place in the 5th VK Cup International Programming Championship. Mikhail was in a team with St. Petersburg State University’s student Alexander Logunov. The competition started in March, while the final round was held on August 11-12 in the VK headquarters, where 20 teams from Russia, Ukraine and Belarus competed for a prize of 2,500,000 RUB.

  • Gennady Korotkevich Wins Google Code Jam For The Fifth Time

    Just recently, the Google Code Jam international coding competition ended in Toronto. For the fifth time in a row, it was ITMO student Gennady Korotkevich who took the winning title, having beat his immediate competitors: Kamil Debowski from Poland and Makoto Soejima from Japan. Each year, over 50,000 programmers from all over the world participate in the event.

  • Student Wins Lab Design Competition

    ITMO University student Veronika Nikitina became one of the winners of a laboratory design competition which took place at ITMO University as part of an International Laboratory Design Conference. She presented her project at the Skolkovo Innovation Center.

  • ITMO’s Futsal Team Wins National Championship

    Earlier this May, Moscow hosted the 10th Universities Futsal Championship. This year, 120 teams of 1610 students took part in the final round, a record number of participants for a student sports competition in Russia. The men's futsal team from ITMO University took the first place among 60 teams in the Silver League, while the university's women's team secured the fifth place among 40 teams in the Silver League. We talked to Vladimir Nakhratov, the coach of the university's futsal team, about futsal at ITMO University.
