Among its categories was the establishment of frontier laboratories at ITMO University, where researchers would work on the very cutting edge of modern science. As a result of the open call, six labs were chosen for the implementation.

Russian Government to Invest Three Billion Rubles in ITMO Highpark
In 2021, the Russian Government will allocate three billion rubles to construct ITMO’s world-class research, education, and innovation center in the satellite city Yuzhny, Pushkinsky District. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed the associated order on December 23. Another two billion rubles will be granted by the Government of St. Petersburg until the end of the year. The next round of financing is scheduled for 2022-2024.

Climate Change Denial: A Response Strategy for Scientists and Eco Journalists

Fundamental Holography: ITMO Researchers Develop Method for Printing Holograms in Color
Scientists from ITMO’s ChemBio Cluster developed a method for printing holograms in color in a project supported by the Russian Science Foundation. At the core of the method are volume Bragg gratings, special films with reflecting properties. The proposed technology is extremely simple and doesn’t require any costly equipment. At the same time it has the potential to help produce full color holograms even on a regular printer. This project is a result of collaboration with Krypten, a scientific production organization specializing in optical protection for banknotes, documents, and trademarks.

ITMO University and Bosch Launch Research Project in Active Matter Physics
ITMO University and Bosch corporation have signed an agreement on conducting research in the field of active matter physics, a field hitherto not studied in Russia. Within the joint project, researchers are working with clusters of macro- and microparticles that can migrate and regroup into new structures. In the future, this project will result in new technologies for the energy industry, manufacturing, and healthcare.
