• ITMO’s Environmental Camp EcoRaids Hosts First Eco-Festival

  The Ecological Raids international volunteer camp has been recently held at ITMO University’s health-and-sports center Yagodnoe. For two weeks, students from six countries attended lectures and workshops on social and environmental projects and shared knowledge in the field of environmental protection. All of this happened on the shores of a beautiful lake in the Karelian isthmus. The camp ended with an open eco-festival.

• SightSafari.City: Great Walking Routes in Every Part of the City

  Isn’t it great to gaze at some tourist attractions while walking home from work? Especially, in the summer, when it’s warm and sunny. But finding a route that would be short and interesting at the same time can be quite a drag, and we often end up choosing the shortest possible way. Egor Smirnov, a research associate at ITMO’s Institute of Design & Urban Studies, has developed a route generation algorithm called SightSafari.City, which is already available in St. Petersburg and other Russian cities, as well as in Belarus and Ukraine.

• Gennady Korotkevich Named One of St. Petersburg's Best Students

  The 16th annual Awards Ceremony has been recently held in the Peter and Paul Fortress to honor the best graduates of St. Petersburg universities. The Vice-Governor of St.Petersburg Vladimir  Kirillov,  and the representatives of the city's universities gathered to congratulate the young experts. ITMO University was represented by Gennady Korotkevich, a Master’s student at the Computer Technology Department, a multiple  winner  of various programming competitions.

• EMI Professional Development Course Launched at ITMO

  For a few years now, the Foreign Language Training Center at ITMO has been offering free English language courses for all staff. Last September, a special course was launched for lecturers of all subjects who are currently teaching or plan to teach in English, to learn more about how to use English as a medium of instruction (EMI).
