ITMO's FutureTechnologies Accelerator - New Projects
The fourth selection round of startups for ITMO's FutureTechnologies accelerator ended in choosing 16 of the best IT, science-driven and hardware projects. With each year, the accelerator’s range of projects widens. At first, there was a separate program for IT projects, and only hardware projects were included. Last year, all of the business accelerator's programs were united under the FutureTechnologies ITMO brand. Let's take a look at how the program changed and what startups were chosen this time.

A Successful Start: ITMO's Schools, Academies and Centers for Schoolers
At ITMO University, you can train for math and physics exams without a tutor, start learning programming languages, find out more about nanotechnologies, build your first robot and, what's most important, decide on your future profession - and all of that while you're still in school! During the recent ITMO.START festival, children and their parents could learn about such things as training for the entrance exams or one's first steps in serious science. “People Need You!” Contest: Social Entrepreneurship for Children
Schoolchildren’s contest of social projects “People Need You!” was held for the second time in St. Petersburg, organized by ITMO University. For three months the children acquired skills in management, PR-communication, networking and partner scouting and other abilities that are necessary to successfully complete a project. This year the students turned their attention to the issues of ecology, information security, children’s street safety and addressed the issue of cultural and historical education of youth.

ITMO and Finland's XAMK University Strengthen Relationship
Head of School of Translational Information Technologies and of ITMO University’s eScience Research Institute Alexander Boukhanovsky and the Rector of South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences (XAMK) Heikki Saastamoinen have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The first step of this new partnership will be the staging of an International Young Scientists Conference. This year the event that will gather the leading experts on high-performance computing and simulation will take place at XAMK’s campus in the town of Kotka.

ITMO University and Kazan Quantum Center Launch the First Multinode Quantum Network in CIS
A group of scientists from the Kazan Quantum Center and ITMO University successfully launched the first multinode quantum network in Russia and CIS. For the first time in national history, four nodes of the city's telecommunications infrastructure in different parts of Tatarstan's capital were united by quantum channels.

Today We Celebrate Victory Day
There’s probably not a single Russian family that wasn’t touched by the Second World War, or the Great Patriotic War as it is called here. The years 1941 – 1945 are engraved in all of us, even generations removed from the actual war, as the years of sacrifice, suffering, and faith in victory. It’s what we think about in times of hardship even now – the songs that we sang as kids at school about how it’s only victory we need and how we’ll achieve it at any cost. And the cost was great.
