  • ITMO Student Daria Fedorova On Winning Pyaterochka’s Student Ideas Contest

    Daria Fedorova, a Bachelor’s student at ITMO’s Faculty of Technological Management and Innovations, was named one of the winners of the NEXT5 contest organized by Pyaterochka retail company. Together with her friend, Daria suggested a modification to the company’s corporate application that would allow potential employees to experience a sneak preview of their job in a virtual simulator, while current retail and storage facility workers would accumulate points to be counted towards their promotion or a salary raise. We reached out to Daria to ask her why she decided to apply, how long it took her to develop the concept, and why she thinks it useful to take part in such events.

  • ITMO in Top 100 of THE Impact Rankings in Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

    THE University Impact Rankings evaluates universities based on their contribution to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ITMO entered the top 400 of the overall ranking, with each of the university’s seven SDG initiatives included in their respective rankings and one of them featuring in the top 100.

  • ICPC Semifinal Winners On Training for The Final and Life After Programming Contests

    The semifinal of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) was held in early April. Two teams from ITMO University became prize-winners: SPb ITMO: pengzoo came third, while SPb ITMO: Insert your name took first place and will now represent the university in the ICPC final. We spoke to Nikolay Budin, Stanislav Naumov, and Roman Korobkov from the winning team about the contest, competing against other ITMO teams, and their reasons for getting into competitive programming.

  • ITMO Students Win Moscow Travel Hack for Second Year in Row

    The hackathon aims to promote tourism in Moscow. This year, among its partners were SberBank, Domodedovo Airport, Rosatom, Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, and others. The grand prize was 1.5 million rubles.

  • ITMO Team Wins Bronze at IST-2021

    The International Scientific Tournament, or IST for short, is a competition for students in the fields of natural sciences: physics, chemistry, and biology. Over the course of several days, the participants compete to solve interdisciplinary scientific challenges. A team that included four Master’s students of ITMO’s international research center SCAMT placed among the top three in this year’s competition.

  • ITMO Student Nikolay Budin Wins Huawei Cup

    Nikolay Budin became a winner in the Code category. In total, over 20,000 students from different parts of Eurasia competed in six categories. The award ceremony took place at Yota Arena in Moscow.

    The interim results of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) have recently been announced: the team Insert your name beat over 300 competitors for the top spot and pengzoo came in third.

  • ITMO Associate Professor Anastasia Pavlova On Teaching, Social Media, and Participation in Women’s Competition

    Anastasia Pavlova, a lecturer at ITMO’s Faculty of Biotechnologies, was nominated for the Top Women 2020 award in Consulting, Education, and Business Training. The competition’s jury included Irina Khakamada, a public figure, Lyasan Utiasheva, the winner of the 2001 World Cup in rhythmic gymnastics, and Vlad Lisovets, a TV host. ITMO.NEWS met with Anastasia Pavlova to learn more about her reasons to join the competition, balancing careers in science and industry, as well as her thoughts on social media in education.
