• I Am a Professional: Tips from Former Winners of Robotics Track

  I Am a Professional is a national competition for students of all fields – from humanities to engineering. Winners receive diplomas, as well as advantages when enrolling into Master’s and PhD programs, monetary prizes, and internship opportunities at major Russian companies. This year, ITMO is organizing three core tracks in partnership with Sberbank: Robotics, Programming & IT, and Information & Cyber Security, as well as a corporate track titled Technological Entrepreneurship in collaboration with VEEROUTE. We talked to the winners of last year’s Robotics track and asked them about the best ways to prepare for the contest and the importance of not underestimating your strengths.

• ITMO Student Wins AI Journey Contest 2021

  Ammar Ali, a PhD student from ITMO University’s Information Technologies and Programming Faculty, has become a winner and runner-up, respectively, of two high-profile competitions in AI and computer vision: AI Journey Contest by Sberbank and Evraz AI Challenge by Evraz. Thus, the student continued his winning streak, which began in early 2021 when he won a competition organized by the American National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and supported by NASA. We talked to Ammar to find out how he managed to combine these two latest achievements and what he plans to do next.

• ITMO Students Win 2.5 Million Rubles at SberBank Hackathon

  A team of students from ITMO University and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) excelled in the fourth round of the SmartMarket Studio contest organized by SberBank. In a span of just one month, the team managed to develop 33 apps for the platform and thus garnered an award in the Activity category.

• First Graduates of ITMO and Sberbank’s Corporate Master’s Program in Robotics Discuss Their Projects

  In 2019, ITMO University and Sberbank expanded their collaboration to the field of robotics and this June witnessed the first ever graduation from the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence corporate Master’s program. Students of the program had the chance to take part in a contest for the opportunity to complete their theses at the Sberbank Robotics Laboratory, thus getting access to the company’s mentors and unique equipment.

• I Am a Professional Competition for Students: ITMO in Top Ten Universities by the Number of Winners

  Last week, results were announced of the latest, third run of the national competition for students “I Am a Professional”. ITMO retained its position in the ranking of the universities with the highest number of winners: 94 of its students made it to the finals this year, with 10 winning bronze, six – silver, and four – gold medals. Most of the winners emerged in the nominations traditional to ITMO: Robotics, Programming and Software Engineering, Information and Cyber Security.
