This gathering, which brings top education experts, usually to a single location, generated a robust discussion of the University’s new strategy and the overall changes in the higher education landscape. 


  • ITMO Technopark and Highpark Launch Pre-Accelerator Program

    ITMO Technopark launched the Pre-accelerator educational program for St. Petersburg entrepreneurs. The course was created in collaboration with ITMO Highpark for the purpose of helping startupers in the early stages. In the course of three months, its participants will be testing their ideas, developing business models, finding consumers and creating the MVP, a minimum viable product for entering the market.   • Results of Mendeleev 150 International Conference at ITMO University

    ITMO University has recently hosted the Mendeleev 150 International Conference. Held as part of the International Year of the Periodic Table, the conference brought together leading specialists in the field of chemistry, physics, and history of chemistry from Russia, the USA, the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, Israel, China, and other countries. In the course of three days, they discussed key trends in modern science and discoveries related to the periodic table.


  • Over 400 Scientists from All Over the World to Discuss Key Trends in Nanophotonics and Metamaterials at METANANO 2019

    METANANO 2019, the fourth conference on nanophotonics and metamaterials, has started in St. Petersburg. The annual event brings together top scientists from universities and research centers of Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the US, the UK and other countries. This year, the conference, which is organized by ITMO University’s International Research Center for Nanophotonics and Metamaterials, has an even larger geographic representation and the number of speakers and participants. More than 400 specialists will share about the latest achievements in nanophotonics, metamaterials, biophotonics, quantum technologies and other topical scientific fields. 


  • International Journalists on Russian Science and Future of the Science Communication Community

    In late June, a group of international science journalists visited ITMO to learn about the university, its scientists and inventions, as well as other organizations that have become highlights of St. Petersburg's technological and innovation industry: the companies Gazpromneft and JetBrains.     Friday June 21 marked the conclusion of the 10th meeting of ITMO’s International Council, the hub of the University’s strategic framework working to help enhance its competitive performance as a leading higher education institution with an international outlook. The prominent experts forming part of the Council assembled in St. Petersburg to discuss this meeting’s topic “Entrepreneurship and Tech Transfer”. 


  • White Nights Forum Experts on Combating Pseudoscience in Medicine

    Last weekend, the international oncological forum White Nights took place in St. Petersburg. For the second year in a row, ITMO University’s Science Communication Center has taken part in the event, where, together with the N.N. Petrov National Medical Research Center of Oncology, it organized a session on the reasons why pseudoscientific methods are being used to treat oncological diseases (this year’s session was timed with the launch of a new biomedical specialization in ITMO’s Science Communication Master’s program). The problem was discussed by leading national and international experts in the field of communication, sociology and medicine.

  • Master’s Degree ++ Conference: The Plenary Session in Review

    The conference “Master’s Degree ++: Coding the Education of the Future” has recently wrapped up in St. Petersburg. Organized by ITMO together with the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, it brought together the winners of the 2018-2019 Potanin scholarship contest, experts from leading Russian and international universities, and representatives of federal and regional government agencies, business and nonprofits. In the course of three days, participants took part in discussions and workshops aimed at identifying the best practices in the implementation of Master’s programs in Russia and worldwide.


  • WiDS Conference: How Data Science Helps Do Business and Identify Rare Diseases

    The main goal of the Women in Data Science international conference is to create a platform for experience exchange between successful women, establishing communications in the industry and consolidating their community. The idea originated at Stanford University, and now the event takes place in more than 150 places all over the world. On March 9, WiDS took place in St. Petersburg at the Higher School of Economics with speakers from such companies as Yandex, Biocad, etc. ITMO.NEWS put down the bullet points.
