The three-months-long course will become a compulsory part of the Game Development Technologies Master’s program at ITMO. Four-hour practice-loaded classes will cover the specifics of the game development industry, typical beginner tasks, and UI/UX analytics in game design. Among the esteemed lecturers are top Russian gamedev experts who contributed to such projects as Heroes of Might and Magic V and Allods Online.
“Game design is an important, if not foundational, element in the creation of gaming experiences. I believe that this knowledge must be learned from practicing industry experts. We are very grateful to be bringing this idea to life together with our collaborators at VK Play and we are hoping to expand our partnership in the future,” shares Andrey Karsakov, the head of the Game Development Technologies Master’s program.
“VK is focusing on its educational initiatives by collaborating with the country’s leading universities. We’ve been training gamedev specialists since 2018, and our recent joint study with ITMO revealed that the number of related educational programs has increased by 45%. It’s a dynamically growing industry in Russia, which is reflected in students’ interest in the subject as well. Now, with support from ITMO and MIREA, we will have the opportunity to share our experience with young professionals who will bring the Russian game development industry to the next level. We will be happy to see graduates of the course among the ranks of developers at VK Play,” said Anna Stepanova, the head of educational projects and university outreach at VK.
