Please introduce yourself to our readers.

I am Jingsi Sun from Xuzhou, China. I like landscape photography, swimming, and playing basketball. I am passionate about life and all the beautiful things around me!

Tell us more about your hometown.

It has a very advantageous geographical location. It holds the source of Han culture in its left hand and the Grand Canal in its right hand, connecting the entire country. Because of this, Xuzhou has been called the gateway to the north, an important town in the south, and a battleground for military strategists throughout its history.

What was your childhood there like?

Cicadas chirping has been with me for as long as I can remember, and it has become the sound of home to me. If you paint my childhood, it would have the color of summer – warm, beautiful, and nostalgic but without any regrets.

What motivated you to study abroad – particularly in Russia?

Russia is renowned for its science and engineering and has a complete education system profoundly rooted in historical achievements, strong scientific research capabilities, and high-quality educational resources. Coming here, I could experience an efficient education and teaching system, learn from the strengths and weaknesses of my peers, and elevate my learning. I like the hospitality and kindness of the Russian people as well as the country's beautiful scenery and pollution-free air. I especially like the winter season, when the white elves soothe people's hearts without hesitation!

How did you come across ITMO?

My teacher at my alma mater, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology, recommended ITMO to me.

What got you interested in this topic?

First of all, I am interested in the concept of system analysis and things related to it. Secondly, my undergraduate courses were highly relevant to control and automation, which would help me transition nicely to this topic. And finally, this direction has broad employment prospects in the future.

How would you describe your life in Russia?

Peaceful, beautiful, and progressive. When I first arrived, I received a lot of care from senior students, whose experience made my life easier. I also met a lot of friends who progressed with me and they always helped me when I encountered difficulties.

I used to love wandering around the city, but now I prefer to walk in parks such as the Mikhailovsky Garden and the Summer Garden.
