Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam Winter School

The Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, one of the largest universities in the Netherlands, will host its winter school online on January 10-14, 2022. There will be courses on data processing and analysis, technology entrepreneurship, social organization and culture, as well as Python. Our top picks are: Data Analysis in R, Econometrics of Networks, Introduction to Sub-Molecular Medical Sciences, and Software and Sustainability. Tuition fee for students is €600 and there will be a €100 discount for courses worth 2 ECTS. The registration deadline is November 15, 2021.

Tallinn Winter School

Between October 1 and December 1, 2021 you can register for the Tallinn Winter School that will take place in January 2022. The courses will focus on applications of design in various fields, such as digital healthcare, marketing, usability, and gamification, and will take place both online and offline. For instance, you can take Gamification/Design of Serious Games, Design of Digital Services for Health Behaviour Change, or Designing Web Landing-Page for Entrepreneurship online via Zoom while the course Experimental Interaction Design will be held offline at the university campus.

Secure e-Governance by TalTech 

At the winter school offered by Tallinn University of Technology, you will have the chance to get to learn about digitalization of Estonian public sector and try your hand in different fields – politics, law, IT, security, business, design thinking, and engineering. The school is meant for Bachelor’s and Master’s students who already have experience in the relevant fields and at the end of the course, students will develop prototypes of a digital service or system and take part in a hackathon to test their skills.

University of Pisa’s Winter School 

On January 17-28, 2022 you will have the chance to learn more about law, economics, engineering, and cutting edge medical technologies at the University of Pisa’s online Winter School. There, you can study the fundamentals of European law in the field of healthcare, as well as the basics of medical devices design that will help you develop your own solution for a specific problem. Upon successful project defense, you will receive 6 ECTS. Tuition fee is €250 euro and the application closes on December 16, 2021.

Technische Universität Berlin Winter School 

Over the month of January (namely, on January 3-28) 2022, you will be able to take part in four online courses on programming and AI: Introduction to Python Programming, Data Science with Python, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, and Programming in Java. There, you will study object oriented programming in Java, some of the most popular libraries in Python (such as NumPy and Pandas), and even conduct your own research project. Each course is worth 6 ECST that could be counted towards your degree. Tuition fee for students is €920 plus a €60 registration fee. The application is open until December 20, 2021.

Europe at a Glance: a 2022 winter school unlike any other by KU Leuven 

At this unique school taking place online on January 17-28, 2022, you will get to discover three fascinating fields: Doing Business with Europe(ans), Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Europe, and Cultural Interactions within Europe. Moreover, the school will feature virtual visits to the European Parliament and the Groeningemuseum. The course is meant for Bachelor’s and Master’s students (preferably with some experience in the covered fields). Tuition fee is €800.

If you are worried about the financial side of participation, don’t let it stop you – ITMO can reimburse up to 70% of your expenses (but no more than 70,000 rubles). You will need to choose the school you’d like to partake in and sign up for it, then you can apply for the competition for partial funding support (at least a month before an offline event and a week before an online event).
