  • ITMO’s Technopark Resident MerkleBot Receives an Award at the World’s Largest Developer Conference

    The MerkleBot international project was founded by professors from ITMO University and Boston University, the USA. With its staff members coming both from Russia and the US, the company has now been honored at the world’s largest developer conference two years in a row. This year, MerkleBot presented a solution that won the DEVIES Award in Robotics. Read on to learn more about the conference, the award-winning solution, and the company behind it.

    Smaragda (Esmeralda) Georgouli comes from Greece, she is currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s in Athens, studying European and International Studies, at the University of Piraeus. She came to ITMO for an exchange semester in Industrial ecology. Fascinated by her point of view on different subjects — especially on her interest in art — we decided to have a small chat.

  • Art Born of Slime Moulds and Bacteria: ITMO Hosts BioArt Workshops

    On February 1-23, the A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications hosted Measure of Chaos. Science as a Means of Communication, a wide-ranging Art&Science project that included workshops and lectures on this interdisciplinary field. LIFE FORMS, one of the key tracks of the project, focused on generative biology, bioethics and other disciplines within BioArt, which is among the most popular fields of Art&Science. ITMO University took part in this track by organizing a BioArt weekend. Laura Rodríguez, a specialist in the field of microbiology and a second-year Master’s student at ITMO’s Art&Science Master’s program, hosted two workshops on BioArt.

  • Where They're Always Glad to Help: Inside the New Student Services Office at ITMO University

    The Student Services Office, which was launched at ITMO University in August 2019, has moved to a new location. The brand-new creative space now operates on the fourth floor at Lomonosova St. 9 and is ready to help students to resolve their questions about paperwork, tuition fees, accommodation and academic backlog. Plus, there is a cozy coworking space where you can discuss your projects, do your homework or just relax in between classes.
