Mysteries of the cellular scale: now available on GitHub! Researchers from ITMO have recently unveiled Cellpose+, an upgrade to the popular scientific algorithm Cellpose, which is used to analyze cell structure based on images. The difference is, the new software automates the arduous process of collecting statistical data – including the density and shape of cells, their cell-to-nucleus ratio, and more. The program is currently in testing, but its source code is already available as a GitHub repository.

Physicists from ITMO are once again working side-by-side with Nobel laureate Frank Wilczek – this time, on a new way of using low-frequency signals to examine ultrafast oscillations in magnetic materials. Even though science has made great leaps in its understanding of magnetization over the past century, questions from the realm of quantum physics still remain. Within this proposed approach, low-amplitude EM waves are employed as “sonars” that can help scientists learn all about magnetization oscillations.
