Topological states

Researchers from ITMO and their colleagues from Australia and Israel have devised a new method to create and manipulate the topological states of resonator arrays. As these physical phenomena are unaffected by the disorder and structural defects of the systems in which they occur, they hold great potential for the development of secure photonic devices and other photonics-based tech.

The protective markers, which are created through a randomized process, are invisible to the naked eye and can be scanned with a microscope and verified via special software. The researchers believe their technology will be most relevant in the manufacturing of medical products, cars, jewelry, and various other limited-run products.

Professional development for AI specialists

Just in time for the new academic year, ITMO is launching several online professional development courses on the subject of AI. With most of the tuition fees covered by the Russian Government, the students don’t have to worry about payment and can focus on learning all about analytics, predictive modeling, and AI architecture.

The two courses (currently only available to Russian citizens) on offer at the moment will deal with AI design and data analysis, respectively, and feature cases provided by major partners (Gazprom Neft, Bank Saint Petersburg, etc).
